Jewell Long entered Heaven Thursday, July 20, 2017 at her home in Farrington Apartments, Lafayette Indiana. She lost her battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 76 years old.

Born April 11, 1941 in Crawfordsville Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Bennie (Duke) Morgan and Erma E. Siegfried. Brother Wade, Sister Oline preceded her in death. Sister Louise Durston survives.

Jewell married Larry Paul Long in Crawfordsville Indiana, and gained 5 brothers, 6 sisters and their families! She moved to Schertz, Texas in 1969 and later to South Houston Texas. She returned to Indiana in 1988, and lived for periods of time in Kingman, Frankfort, Thorntown, and Lebanon. After a stroke in 2013, she moved to Lafayette.

Jewell worked various jobs, but loved working beside her husband in the drywall business. She was employed by the Clermont firm of C.S. White, Inc for 18 years until her husband’s death on March 8, 2005.

She enjoyed watching The Food Network, the Hallmark Station, gardening and feeding the squirrels!

She loved her family of 4 children, Judy Moyer of Illinois, Butch Hammond of Stockwell Indiana, Larry Allen Long, of Frankfort Indiana and Debra Brewer of Lafayette Indiana. Jewell was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

So many family and friends loved her and enjoyed visiting her because of her spunky, fun attitude! She made many new friends when she moved to Farrington, and it didn’t take long for them to recognize her need to bless others by her acts of kindness.

She was a Jewel and will be greatly missed and always remembered. In her memory, please pay an Act of Kindness forward.

Jewell will be laid to rest Monday, July 24, 2017 at Lincoln Memory Gardens, 6851 S Indianapolis Rd, Whitestown, IN 46075. The family would like to invite friends to her grave side service at 10:00 a.m.
